What's in a Name
Name: Danielle Moonstar
Nickname: Mirage
Age: 20
Affliction: Neutral/Former New Mutant
It's Inside what Matters
Personality: A serious nature-lover, Danielle is a proud, strong-willed, slightly defiant young woman. She is devoted to her real family and her friends among Xavier’s mutants. She is cynical, brash and impetuous, not being used to authority outside her family, and isn't about to listen to it.
She seeks to free herself from what she perceives as the limitations of traditional systems of religious belief and expresses a belief in the New Age approaches to spirituality.
History: Danielle Moonstar is an American Indian of the Cheyenne Nation. Born on a ranch outside Boulder, Colorado, she lived happily with her parents until she was about 10. At this time Danielle began to have nightmares as a result of her emerging mutant powers which she could not control.
The nightmares were actually visible images of people's greatest fears, though this was unknown at the time. One night, she created one of these nightmares of her parents' death, an event that came true a short time later.
Fleeing her home, Danielle was raised for the next few years by her grandfather, Black Eagle, a Cheyenne chief and shaman. As her powers continued to manifest themselves, Black Eagle contacted Professor Xavier to request he take over Danielle's training. Before Professor Xavier arrived, Black Eagle was killed by armoured goons sent by Shinobi Shaw (the son of Sebastian Shaw, currently the Black King of the Hellfire Club), the younger Shaw wanting to gather a team of psychic-based mutants to overthrow and usurp his father.
Under Xavier's guidance, Black Eagle's killer was defeated by Danielle who joined the academy to learn about her powers and how to control and use them. While studying under Xavier's watchful eye, she was given the codename Mirage. But the team, both X-men and the younger students, would soon leave Professor X's school after Xavier himself vanished in an unexplained explosion. Danielle slowly drifted back to her home in Boulder, Colorado and picked up tending her family's ranch.
Abilities: Danielle is a better than average athlete for her age, in large part because of all the times she has spent on her own in the wilderness. She has a fair knowledge of hand-to-hand combat, has enhanced durability, and is a particularly good horseback rider and swimmer.
Sexuality: Straight
Looks do Count Sometimes
Height: 5' 6
Weight: 115 lb

Power!! Unlimited Power!
Powers: Danielle has the psionic ability to create three-dimensional images of the greatest fears and desires a person may have. These images can be seen by everyone in their vicinity. She can also project images of objects of fear or desire from the minds of animals, but only the animal from which she derives the image will be able to see it. Danielle can establish a telepathic rapport with higher animals, including primates, felines, birds and wolves.
Weaknesses: Danielle is limited in the use of her power by her need to see the person, she can't draw images from a person who was standing only a few feet from her but behind something she couldn't see through. Nor can she derive images from a person whom she sees via live television but who isn't actually within her vicinity.
The very Real You
Nickname: Charmed

Sample Post: She slid off the chestnut stallion and tied its reins to a tree before moving away a fair distance, so the horse would not be spooked by what she was going to do. Sitting down on a rock, she smiled, wanting to experiment with the newest power she had developed and there had been reports of a mountain lion in this area.
"Come to me, my brother" she sent the telepathic message to the cat. A few moments later, she sensed it coming through the trees, its mental state curious at how this human could call it. As it stepped out a couple of feet in front of her, the young woman sent feelings of trust and friendship over the mental link. The wait seemed unbearable, then the cat moved forward, nudging her as Danielle slowly wrapped her arms around its neck.
"Greetings to you too, Ridgerunner" she whispered, awestruck. She had done it....
